New Delhi, May 29: Nearly 6,000 high-profile guests, from India and across the globe, will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday, May 30. This is believed to be one of the largest gatherings for a single event when the Prime Minister and his Council of Ministers will take the oath for a second term. According to a report by Economic Times, the guests will be served light dinner besides high-tea after the ceremony at 7 PM. The report informs that the dinner at the mega event will include both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The major highlight of the dinner will be the signature ‘Dal Raisina’ that is already being cooked. Narendra Modi will be sworn in as the Prime Minister for the second term on May 30, the Rashtrapati Bhavan informed on Sunday. “The President will administer the oath of Office and secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of Union Council of Ministers on 30.05.2019 at 07.00 p.m.,” a communique from the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

According to reports, 54 special guests, apart from leaders from BIMSTEC countries and a host of celebrities and politicians, would be attending the swearing-in ceremony in the national capital. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth have also confirmed their participation at Thursday's event. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said the ceremony will also be attended by Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Myanmarese President U Win Myint, Nepali Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering.

The report states that the President’s kitchen has to keep in mind that many visiting dignitaries are from countries whose cuisine is light. Also, it has to consider the timing of the event will make it a late meal for the dignitaries from the east, when compared to their local time. In the recently held Lok Sabha Polls, the BJP won 303 seats on its own while the Congress managed to bag just 52 seats of the total 542 parliamentary seats.

In 2014, the Prime Minister had invited leaders from SAARC countries for his swearing-in ceremony. This time, India has invited leaders of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) nations. The regional organization of states on the littoral and adjacent areas of the Bay of Bengal includes five South Asian countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka and two from Southeast Asia - Myanmar and Thailand.
