New Delhi, October 28: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati has demanded that Supreme Court take cognisance of BJP President Amit Shah's comment that "Only such judgements should be given, which can be followed," referring to the Supreme Court verdict allowing entry of women of all ages at the Sabarimala temple. The BJP President made the remark speaking at Kannur, Kerala on Saturday.
Amit Shah in his speech came down heavily on the Kerala government and even warned the Pinarayi Vijayan government of paying a huge price if they continued to what he termed as playing with the "sentiments of the devotees." Shah criticised the Supreme Court verdict allowing women of all ages to Sabarimala temple and said the court should not pass verdicts that go against the religious faith of the people and "can't be implemented" on the ground. Reacting to Shah's remark, Pinarayi Vijayan said the BJP wants to sabotage people's mandate. "Amit Shah who threatened to topple our government should remember that this government came to power, not at the mercy of BJP, but the people’s mandate. His message is to sabotage the people’s mandate," Vijayan wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, former ISRO chairman Madhavan Nair, along with four other prominent personalities, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after party president Amit Shah's speech at the opening of a BJP office in Kannur, Kerala. Party president Amit Shah welcomed the members in the party and felicitated them with a shawl.
