Maval Lok Sabha Constituency in Maharashtra Results 2019: Shiv Sena Candidate Shrirang Barne Elected as MP
The result of the Maval Lok Sabha election was declared on May 23.
Mumbai, May 24: Shiv Sena candidate Shrirang Barne was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) from Maval Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra. Barne defeated his nearest rival and NCP candidate and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s son Parth Pawar will be NCP's candidate. Polling for Maval parliamentary constituency was held on April 29 in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections.
The Shiv Sena formed an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), whereas the NCP is contesting with the Congress. The process of filing nomination for Maval Lok Sabha polls began from April 2. Scrutiny was done on April 10 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations was April 12. The Shiv Sena is contesting 23 seats out of total 48 seats in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which will fight on rest of the seats. The BJP-Shiv Sena combine together won 41 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, while the Congress bagged two and the NCP four. Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases - on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
