Panaji, February 26: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was admitted at the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim past week, was discharged on Tuesday. On his release, senior BJP leaders in the state claimed that Parrikar's health is rapidly improving. The CM has now been shifted at his official accommodation, where he would be gradually resuming the day-to-day charge.
At the Bambolim hospital, Parrikar's medical check-up was conducted on Sunday by Dr Pramod Garg, who had treated the Chief Minister for months when he was hospitalised at the AIIMS in Delhi. Goa Minister Slams Social Media Users Spreading Rumours on Parrikar's Health.
A day ahead of Parrikar's discharge, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told reporters that the Goa CM is in "perfect shape". He claimed that all his crucial body parameters are holding on, and the overall health showing signs of rapid recovery.
Apart from Rane, former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar also confirmed to the media that Parrikar's condition is "stable".
Notably, the 63-year-old four-time Goa CM has been reeling under pancreatic ailments since January last year. Parrikar was flown twice to the United States in 2018, where he was treated at a New York-based medical facility.
The Chief Minister was later admitted to the AIIMS, where he was treated for over a three-month period. Despite being discharged, Parrikar's public appearance has remained restricted due to the ill-health.
Demands have been raised by the Opposition seeking a "full-time Chief Minister" in the state. The BJP, however, has rejected the demand, claiming that Parrikar's ill-health has not hindered governance in the state.
