Manohar Lal Khattar to Take Oath as Haryana Chief Minister Tomorrow; State Likely To Have Two Deputy CMs

Chandigarh, October 26: Manohar Lal Khattar will take oath as the Haryana chief minister for the second consecutive time. He was appointed as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was also present during the BJP legislative party meeting. The oath-taking ceremony is likely to take place at 2 pm in Chandigarh. Khattar will meet governor today to stake claim to form the government. Along with Khattar, two deputy CM’s are likely to take oath. According to reports, one of the deputy CM could be Anil Vij and the second one will be from Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). Earlier, reports surfaced that, Naina Chautala, mother of JPP President Dushyant Chautala will take oath as the deputy CM. In the recently concluded assembly elections, Haryana witnessed a fractured mandate. The BJP secured 40 seats, falling short of six seats from the majority mark. The Congress doubled its tally in these elections. The grand old party bagged 31 seats. Unexpectedly, the newly-formed JPP won 10 seats, holding the key in the government formation.

Meanwhile, seven independents also extended support to the saffron party. Haryana Lokhit Congress leader Gopal Kanda also supported the BJP, but the saffron party decided not to include the tainted MLA’s name in the list of MLAs supporting it, after an outrage.
