Imphal, May 23: The results of Lok Sabha elections 2019 held in Manipur will be declared today along with the other states and union territories. The counting of votes will begin at 8 am. The main electoral contest is between the Indian National Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Left Front, and others. According to the Election Commission, two Lok Sabha seats in Manipur - Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur - went to polls in two separate phases, i.e. April 11 and April 18. Amid reports of EVMs malfunctioning and mud sledding between political parties in the state, the elections were mostly peaceful. The apex poll conducting body informed that the average polling percentage recorded in the state was 77.11.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh-led BJP contested in all the two seats by fielding Houlim Shokhopao Mate from Outer Manipur seat, while Congress has fielded K James. For Inner Manipur, BJP has fielded Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh while Congress has announced Oinam Nabakishore Singh as their candidate. While Moirangthem Nara Singh of Communist Party of India is contesting from this seat. Altogether 19 participants are testing their fate in this election.
