Shimla, December 3: Polling for all the 68 seats of the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections was held in a single phase on Saturday, November 12. The results of the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections 2022, including outcomes of Mandi, Seraj, Nahan, Solan, Lahaul and Spiti assembly seats, will be declared on December 8. Mandi Election 2022:
In the 2017 assembly elections, Anil Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won from the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. This year too, the BJP has fielded Anil Sharma to retain the Mandi assembly seat. Champa Thakur is contesting the election on Congress’ ticket while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has given its ticket to Shyam Ali. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has nominated Chet Ram to contest from the Mandi assembly seat this time. In Mandi, there will be a triangular battle between BJP’s Anil Sharma, Champa Thakur of the Congress and Shyam Lal of the AAP. A total of 9 candidates are in the fray from the Mandi seat. Seraj Election 2022:
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Jai Ram Thakur had won the 2017 assembly elections. This year too, Thakur is leading the charge against Mukesh Agnihotri of the Congress in the Seraj assembly seat. In Seraj, the BJP has fielded Jai Ram Thakur again while the Congress has given its ticket to Chetram Thakur. Gita Nand Thakur is contesting on AAP’s ticket while the Bahujan Samaj Party has fielded Indra Devi to contest from Seraj assembly constituency. A total of 6 candidates are in the fray from the Seraj seat.
Nahan Election 2022:
Rajeev Bindal of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who had emerged victorious in 2017 Himachal Pradesh assembly elections has been nominated again by the party to retain the Nahan assembly seat this time. The Congress has given its ticket to Ajay Solanki while Sunil Sharma is contesting on AAP’s ticket. The Bahujan Samaj Party has nominated Ayodhya Prasad Verma from the Nahan constituency. A total of 6 candidates are in the fray from the Nahan seat this time.
Solan Election 2022:
In the last assembly election held in 2017, Dhani Ram Shandil of the Congress party had won from the Solan assembly seat. This year too, the Congress has nominated Shandil to contest election from this seat. The Bharatiya Janata Party has given its ticket to Rajesh Kashyup while Anju is contesting from the Aam Aadmi Party’s ticket. The BSP has given its ticket to Rajinder this time. A total of 4 candidates are in the fray from the Solan seat this time.
Lahaul and Spiti Election 2022:
Ram Lal Markanda of the BJP had bagged the Lahaul and Spiti assembly seat in the last assembly election that was held in 2017. In a bid to retain the seat, the BJP has reposed faith in Markanda. The Congress has given its ticket to Ravi Thakur while AAP has nominated Sudarshan Jaspa from the Lahaul and Spiti constituency. A total of 3 candidates are in the fray from the Lahaul and Spiti seat this time.
All eyes will be on the results on December 8 when the fate of candidates from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, AAP, and other parties in the hill state will be decided. Himachal Pradesh has so far seen a bipolar contest between the BJP and Congress. This time, AAP has entered the electoral battle, which would make it a triangular contest in some assembly constituencies.
