Kolkata, December 19: Bharatiya Janata Party BJP leader and West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya on Thursday attacked the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for rising violence in state. Vijayvargiya also alleged that it is because of the TMC supremo's actions, due to which people are being misled to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Stating that the immigrants are allegedly indulging in violence, as reported by Hindustan Times, Vijayvargiya said, "Mamata Banerjee is completely responsible for the present situation. Being a CM, Mamta Banerjee has come out on roads and is misleading the people. How will the law and order be maintained in that state?" Mamata Banerjee Demands UN Intervention in CAA-NRC Row, Calls For Nationwide Voting on Issue.

Asking Banerjee to immediately resign, the BJP leader said, "With full responsibility, I am saying this that the immigrants have been doing vandalism from the day Mamata Banerjee has started opposing CAA. I think after what she is doing, she has no right to continue as the CM."

Vijayvargiya recalled Banerjee's old statement of 2005 and said, "On August 4, 2005, Mamata Banerjee had accused the CPI (M) of allowing immigrants to enter inside and enlist their names in voter list in the Lok Sabha. At that time the Election Commission had removed few names from the voter list. I think, both the Election Commission and Lok Sabha are the witnesses of that."

In other report, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar requested Mamata Banerjee to withdraw her demand seeking UN-monitored body to do a survey on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the proposed NRC. Dhankar had mentioned in his tweet that hwe was pained at Banerjee's statement.
