New Delhi, December 12: The Congress is likely to finalise the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh by tomorrow, as the one-month long inauspicious period, marked by the onset of Malmas-Kharmas 2018, will begin from Friday.

Although Malmas-Kharmas starts from December 16, the inauspicious period associated with it begins two days earlier -- from December 14. Kamal Nath to be Next Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Say Reports.

This could be one of the reasons why Telangana's caretaker CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, known for being religious, has scheduled his oath-taking ceremony at 1:24 pm tomorrow.

To avoid associating any bad omen - linked to Kharmas - with their chief ministerial designates, the Congress is likely to make an announcement by tomorrow.

In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) met today to decide on who would be leading the next government. Reports claimed that the legislators shared consensus on Kamal Nath, the Pradesh Congress Committee chief, being the next CM. An official announced was expected by Congress president Rahul Gandhi at 9pm.

In Rajasthan, the party's state unit has asked the high command to take a call. The two key contenders - former 2-time CM Ashok Gehlot and Congress Rajasthan unit chief Sachin Pilot - are likely to fly to Delhi, where the final decision would be taken.

In Chhattisgarh -- which is away from the media glare -- the passive race for CM post is between Congress state unit chief Bhupesh Baghel, Durg MP and seniormost party leader in the state, Tamradhwaj Sahu, and Leader of Opposition in outgoing assembly, TS Singh Deo.
