Mumbai, June 29: Maharashtra BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Tuesday night at Raj Bhavan. In his meeting, Fadnavis urged the Guv to ask CM Uddhav Thackeray to prove confidence in his government. The former CM also sought a floor test. Fadnavis' meeting came hours after Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde said that he will be coming to Mumbai soon, and also claimed that he has the support of 50 MLAs with him.

Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday resigned as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra ahead of the floor test in Maharashtra. Addressing the state virtually, Thackeray said he is stepping down as the CM of Maharashtra. He will also resign as a member of the legislative council.

Supreme Court, during the hearing, asked Senior advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul - how many MLAs are in the dissident group?
Advocate Kaul said the rebel group has the support of 55 MLAs. Out of 55, 39 MLAs are from Shiv Sena, which is why the great nervousness to facing the Floor Test. "Rebel MLAs are not leaving Shiv Sena. We're the Shiv Sena, we have an overwhelming majority," he added.

"As far as disqualification issue is concerned, that matter is sub judice before us. We will determine it. How does the floor test depend on qualification or disqualification? Are these powers interchangeable or inter related?," Justice Kant asked the MVA lawyer.
"On one hand, court has stayed disqualification proceedings, on the other hand, MLAs are going to vote tomorrow, it's a direct contradiction," MVA lawyer told SC.

Devendra Fadnavis Speaks to MNS Chief Raj Thackeray

Ahead of the floor test in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde said 50 MLAs are with him and they have 2/3 majority. He also said that they will reach Mumbai tomorrow. "We are not worried about any floor test. We will pass all things and no one can stop us. In democracy majority matters and we're having that," Shinde said.

Supreme Court to hear plea against floor test today
Shiv Sena chief whip Sunil Prabhu has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari's direction to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government to take a floor test and prove its majority in the House on Thursday (June 30). The court will hear the case at 5 pm today.
BJP, rebel MLAs prepare for the floor test
According to sources, rebel MLAs will be heading to Goa today; 70 rooms have been booked at Taj Resort & Convention Centre, Goa for them. Meanwhile, BJP has directed its MLAs to assemble at the Taj President hotel in Mumbai by today evening.
