Mumbai, February 27: The Maharashtra state assembly passed the budget for the year 2019-20. Maharashtra finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar tabled the interim budget in the assembly for four months considering that elections are due in the state of Maharashtra later in the year. Below are the highlights of the Maharashtra Budget 2019-20.
1. The Maharashtra government announced Rs 6,895 crore for the PMAY or Housing for All Scheme.
2. All the Anganwadi workers will be provided with mobile phones.
3. The budget of State Haj Committee will be increased.
4. Rural women entrepreneurs get a new scheme called 'Nav Tejaswini'.
5. Women and Child Welfare department get Rs 2921 crore.
6. The OBC Welfare Commission will get Rs 2892 crore.
7. Schemes related to SC/ST population gets Rs 9208 crore.
8. Rashtrya Aarogya Abhiyan gets Rs 2098 crore.
9. Aayushman Bharat scheme gets Rs 1021 crore.
However, the Opposition parties on Monday boycotted Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao's address to the joint sitting of the Maharashtra legislature to voice their protest against his recent remarks on the RSS. Earlier this month, Rao had said in Nagpur that the RSS is one of the most secular and inclusive organisations as it has always respected the right of individuals to practice their own faith.
