Maharashtra Gram Panchayat, Sarpanch Elections 2019: Polling in 557 Rural Local Bodies on March 24, Results on March 25
Besides gram panchayat polls, elections will be held for 82 Sarpanch posts on March 24.
Mumbai, February 21: The State Election Commission (SEC) of Maharashtra on Thursday announced the schedule for gram panchayat elections in 24 districts. According to dates declared by the SEC, elections will be held in 557 gram panchayats on March 24. Besides gram panchayat polls, elections will be held for 82 Sarpanch posts on the same date. Counting of votes for gram panchayat and sarpanch elections will be held on March 25 and results will be announced on the same day.
The Model Code of Conduct comes into force with immediate effect, State Election Commissioner Jageshwar S Saharia said. The process of filing nomination will begin from March 5. The last day for nominations would be March 9. Scrutiny will be done on March 11 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations will be March 13. On March 24, polling will begin from 7:30 am onwards and continue till 5:30 pm.
In Gadhchiroli district, where two gram panchayats will go to polls, polling will conclude at 3 pm. Here is the number of gram panchayats in districts that will go to polls on March 24: Thane - 3, Raigarh - 20, Ratnagiri - 11, Sindhudurg - 4, Nashik - 48, Dhule - 18, Jalgaon - 12, Ahmednagar - 3, Nandurbar - 5, Pune - 20, Solapur - 8, Satara - 44, Kolhapur - 3, Aurangabad - 3, Usmanabad - 2, Parbhani - 1, Amravati - 1, Akola - 14, Washim - 32, Buldana - 2, Nagpur - 2, Vardha - 298, Chandrapur - 1 and Gadhchiroli - 2.
