Maharashtra Government Formation: Shiv Sena Cancels Meeting With BJP After Devendra Fadnavis Refuses 50:50 Claim on CM Post
The Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena on Tuesday cancelled the meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the incumbent and caretaker chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, said that there is no question of negotiations about the CMs' post.
Mumbai, October 29: The conflict between Shiv Sena and BJP over the formation of government in Maharashtra seems to be turning into a conflict. The Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena on Tuesday cancelled the meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the incumbent and caretaker chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, said that there is no question of negotiations about the CMs' post. Fadnavis added that the "50:50" formula claimed by Shiv Sena is not applicable to the chief minister's post. Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil, spoke on sharing the chief minsiter post. He said that, "Devendra ji today said that a proposal of CM for 2.5 yrs each(BJP-Shiv Sena) had come during Lok Sabha elections. He also said he doesn't know what was decided, only Amit Shah knows. Amit ji &Uddhav ji will talk to each other & bring a clarity (sic)."

However, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said that nothing was promised to Shiv Sena on power-sharing, virtually rejecting Uddhav Thackeray-led party's demand for the chief ministerial post on a rotational basis.
Devendra Fadnavis said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not have any agreement with the Sena for equally sharing power in the state government. "There was no formula to split the chief minister's post... we have given no such formula...Our party president (Amit Shah) has confirmed that nothing has been decided on CM post to Shiv Sena," Fadnavis said.
