In a huge political twist on Saturday morning in Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis took oath as chief minister and Ajit Pawar of NCP took oath as the deputy CM, ending the political logjam in the state. President's rule was imposed in Maharashtra after no party staked claim to forming the government after the Shiv Sena-BJP fallout, and Shiv Sena talking to Congress-NCP to form government in the state.
However, Devendra Fadnavis taking oath as CM and Ajit Pawar as deputy CM has taken everyone by surprise as NCP chief Sharad Pawar had endorsed Uddhav Thackeray for the chief minister's post on Friday. The BJP had won 105 seats in the 288-member assembly followed by Shiv Sena-56, NCP-54 and Congress winning 44.
