Mumbai, November 7: Ahead of BJP's meet with the Governor today with regards to the government formation in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena has accused the saffron party of trying to poach its MLAs. The party said in an editorial in Sena's mouthpiece Saamana, that the new MLAs have been approached with money. However, Uddhav Thackeray led party expressed confidence that the MLAs "won't break away'. Raut has further reiterated that the Chief Minister will be from Shiv Sena.
Commenting on reports of shifting its MLAs to a resort, Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena said, "There is no need for us to do this, our MLAs are firm in their resolve and committed to the party. At a press conference held in the city on Wednesday, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar said that BJP and Shiv Sena should form the government as soon as possible without any further delay, while they will take charge as the Opposition.
The tenure of the current Assembly ends in two days and a special three-day session of the House may be convened next week to swear in the new MLAs, according to reports. The allies of 30 years, Sena and BJP, are engaged in a "50:50 formula" of equal distribution of cabinet portfolios and Chief Minster's post for 2.5 years each. As Sena stands firm with its demand, BJP party has maintained its stand that incumbent Devendra Fadnavis will continue to be CM for the next five years.
