New Delhi, November 26: In the latest development in the Maharashtra political scenario, the Supreme Court ordered chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to prove their majority in a floor test on Wednesday before 5 pm.
The Court further categorically mentioned that the floor test will be conducted by a pro-tem speaker. The session will be telecasted live and it will be an open ballot system test. The senior-most MLA of the House will be appointed as the Protem Speaker. Maharashtra Floor Test Tomorrow, Supreme Court Orders Carrying Out Vote Before 5 PM on November 27.

- Floor test to be live telecasted and completed before 5 pm.
- There is no provision for a secret ballot
- The Apex Court has further informed that the rest of the issues will be taken after 8 weeks.
- The senior-most MLA of the House will be appointed as the Protem Speaker.
- The only agenda of the protem speaker is to conduct the floor test.

The petitions were filed after BJP's Devendra Fadnavis took oath for the second consecutive term as the state Chief Minister, with NCP's Ajit Pawar as his Deputy Chief Minister on Saturday morning. This came as a shock because deliberations were going on between Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena on the government formation had reached the final stage.
A joint petition was thus filed by Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party against the decision of the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to invite BJP to form the government in the state.
