Maha Vikas Aghadi leader Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday was sworn in as 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Along with Uddhav Thackeray, six leaders, two each from the Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress, took oath as ministers. They are Eknath Shinde, Subhash Desai, Jayant Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal, Babasaheb Thorat and Nitin Raut.
Senior Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Kapil Sibal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, DMK chief MK Stalin are on stage to witness Uddhav Thackeray's swearing-in.
NCP leaders Ajit Pawar and Dhananjay Munde have arrived at the iconic Shivaji Park where Uddhav Thackeray will take oath as Chief Minister of Maharashtra shortly.
Like Sonia Gandhi, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also wrote a letter to Uddhav Thackeray expressing regret for not being present at his swearing-in ceremony. "I am glad that Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi has come together to defeat the BJP's attempt to undermine our democracy. I regret that I am unable to be present at the function," he stated.
In a letter to Chief Minister-designate Uddhav Thackeray, Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi said that she won't be able to attend his swearing-in ceremony.

Massive arrangements are in place for Uddhav Thackeray's swearing-in ceremony. Thousands of chairs have been put in place and an elaborate stage set-up for the swearing-in, said reports.

Thackeray is set to form a government led by the Maha Vikas Aghadi, an alliance of Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, and take oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday at Shivaji Park at 6.40 pm. Around 400 farmers from various districts of Maharashtra have been invited for Thackeray's swearing-in ceremony. On Tuesday, Thackeray was unanimously elected as the leader of the tri-party alliance.
The political development came after BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis submitted his resignation as Chief Minister to the Governor on Tuesday as "the BJP fell short of the required number of MLAs to win the scheduled floor test". Supreme Court had asked the Fadnavis government to prove its majority in the 288-member Assembly before 5 pm on Wednesday. In a sudden turn of events, both Fadnavis and NCP leader Ajit Pawar were administered oath as the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of the state, respectively, on Saturday morning, nixing Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP's bid to form government in the state.
