Mumbai, January 10: The State Election Commission is scheduled to declare the results of Maharashtra civic bypoll results 2020. The counting of votes is scheduled to begin at 8 am at the designated centres in Nagpur, Nashik and Malegaon. A total of four municipal corporation seats were contested in the by-elections held on January 9. Two of them were based in Nashik, along with one each in Nagpur and Malegaon. In Nashik, the bypolls were held in ward number 26 and 22. In the latter, the contest was primarily centred between BJP's Vishaka Shirsat and NCP candidate Jagdish Pawar. In ward number 26, the contest was primarily between the BJP and the Shiv Sena, with the latter fielding Madhukar Jadhav.
In the Malegaon Municipal Corporation, the lone seat bypoll contest featured a battle between the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress. Mustaqeem Ahmed and Farooq Qureshi were the respective candidates. The bypolls were necessitated due to the death of incumbent JD(S) corporator Buland Iqbal.
