Mumbai, September 5: Ahead of the 2019 assembly elections in Maharashtra, a bumper 21 lakh voters have been enrolled in the last seven months. Out of the total number of voters registered, female voters have outnumbered the male voters. The number of voters in male category went up by 10.4 lakh voters, whereas the increase in the female voters increased by 10.8 lakh voters, reported The Times of India. With the increase in the number of voters, the total number of eligible voter strength has reached 8.9 crore. The total number of male and female voters in the state of Maharashtra has increased subsequently over the years. The total number of male voters in the state of Maharashtra are 4.7 crore. The total number of female voters in Maharashtra stand at 4.3 crore.

In the run-up to the assembly elections in Maharashtra, the electoral roll was revised in the state from February 1 to August 31, as part of the pre-poll exercise.

The major reason for the rise in the number of voters is the inclusion of young and first time voters. As compared to the previous assembly election in Maharashtra, the number of voters have gone up by 59 lakh. However, the rise in the number of voters has been highest in the last seven months, according to the report.
