Ahead of Assembly elections in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis begun 'Maha Janadesh Yatra', statewide tour, from Amravati district today. The yatra began from Mojhari village, the land of well-known social reformer Saint Tukdoji Maharaj.
Amravati, August 1: Ahead of Assembly elections in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis begun 'Maha Janadesh Yatra', statewide tour, from Amravati district on Thursday. The yatra began from Mojhari village, the land of well-known social reformer Saint Tukdoji Maharaj. Fadnavis along with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged off the 4,394 km tour. Targeting the opposition on a development front, Fadnavis said, "No government can abolish all problems in 5 years but I can claim that whatever the previous government did in 15 years, we did more than double of it in just 5 years. I challenge all in opposition to come in any state to have a discussion on development in the past 15 years."

Speaking on the beginning of 'Maha Janadesh Yatra’, Union Minister Rajnath Singh said, "Somebody was saying we have to win more than 200 seats this time around, but if BJP-Shiv Sena contests together then we should aim to win more than 250 seats." BJP's ally Shiv Sena has also begun a Jan Ashirwad Yatra, lead by Uddhav Thackeray's son and party's youth wing president Aaditya Thackeray. During the trip, the Thackeray scion is meeting farmers and commoners and listening to their issues. He is also meeting the local Sena leaders and addressing youths.'
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Assembly elections are likely to take place in October or November. BJP and Shiv Sena have announced their alliance for these polls. The Indian National Congress (INC) and the National Congress Party (NCP) are also likely to fight together.
