Mumbai, October 10: 26 Shiv Sena corporators and around 300 workers of the party have sent their resignation to the party chief Uddhav Thackeray citing their 'unhappiness over the distribution of seats' for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly Elections. This has come as a major set back to the party.

According to a Times of India report, they have resigned in support of the party's rebel candidate Dhananjay Bodare. The party leaders are reportedly upset over the party's order to support BJP candidate Ganpat Gaikwad because the local Shiv Sena leaders wanted a party candidate on this seat which went to BJP in the seat-sharing deal. The mass resignation is a result of a diktat from the party's top bosses and they have decided to help Bodare and not Gaikwad.

Fadnavis, the incumbent CM, is projected by the BJP to lead the state if the party returns to power. Their coalition partner, Shiv Sena, has not backed the move and reiterated that the next Chief Minister would be a Shiv Sainik.
