Voting in both the states will be held in a single phase:
• Polling for Assembly Elections in Maharashtra and Haryana: October 21
• Counting of Votes and Results: October 24
• Issue of notification: September 27
• Last date of nomination: October 4
• Scrutiny of nomination: October 5
• Last day of withdrawal of candidature: October 7
The polling in both states- Maharashtra and Haryana will be held on October 21, Counting and Results on October 24. The voting in both the states will be held in single phase.
During his address, CEC Sunil Arora appealed to the candidates to avoid the use of plastic during poll campaigning. Arora added saying that special security arrangements will be made for LWE affected areas in Gadchiroli and Gondia in Maharashtra. "Election campaigns impose an environmental cost upon us. We appeal to political parties to avoid use of plastic and use only environment-friendly material in their campaigns", he said.

Once the ECI announces the dates, Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will come into force in both states. This means the current governments in both the states cannot make any fresh announcements, roll out out new schemes or influence the voters in any manner using its authority of office.In 2014, the ECI had announced the dates for the two state Assembly elections on September 12. The term of 288-member Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9 while that of the 90-member Haryana assembly expires on November 2. In Haryana, the BJP-led Manohar Lal Khattar government is currently in power. In the 2014 polls in the state, the BJP had won 47 seats, while the Congress managed to win only 15 seats. For the polls this year, the BJP has already kick-started the poll bugle in the state with a Jan Ashirwad Yatra.
