The phase 4 of Lok Sabha elections 2019 has begun at 7 am in Madhya Pradesh. Seven parliamentary seats - Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad and Betul are going for polls in the fifth phase on May 6.
Bhopal, May 6: The phase 4 of Lok Sabha elections 2019 ended in Madhya Pradesh. Seven parliamentary seats - Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad and Betul went for polls in the fifth phase on May 6. A total of 15,240 polling booths were set up across the LokSabha seats going for polls. This round of the elections featured candidacy of 110 aspirants, whose fate was decided by 1,19,56,447 voters. Out of the stated electorate size, 63,03,271 voters were male and 56,52,941 female. Meanwhile, 235 were third gender voters. A total of 63.59 percent voter turnout was recorded in the state. In 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had all the seven parliamentary constituencies which going for polls on May 6. Out of the total 110 candidates contesting the polls in the fifth phase, only nine were women. According to AIR, 454 polling stations were fully operated by women polling personnel while 43 polling booths by Divyanga staff. In the fifth phase, the key candidates were BJP's Prahlad Patel, Virendra Kumar Khateek, Bishnu Datt Sharma, Ganesh Singh, Janardhan Mishra, Uday Pratap Singh and Durga Das and Congress' Pratap Singh Lodhi, Ramu Tekam, Shailendra Dewan, Maharani Kavita Singh, Siddharth Tiwari, Rajaram Tripathi and and Ahirwar Kiran. There are 29 parliamentary seats in MP, of which 27 were won by the BJP and two by Congress in 2014. Later in by-poll, one more seat (Ratlam) was won by Congress increasing its tally to three. The parliamentary polls in MP are taking place in four phases starting from April 29. The results will be declared on May 23.
