Bhopal, November 3: Madhya Pradesh Congress unit chief Kamal Nath has landed in soup as he was caught on camera purportedly saying that he would not hesitate to issue a ticket to a tainted candidate, provided that the person has the best prospects of winning. The clip is likely to puncture the party's claim to provide a "non-corrupt" government if elected to power.

The video which has embarrassed the Congress was tweeted by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Giriraj Singh. In the clip, Kamal Nath could be heard saying that it does not matter to him how many cases are registered against a candidate who fulfills the winnability criteria. Shivraj Singh Chauhan's Brother-in-Law Sanjay Singh Masani Joins Congress.

"Some say that a particular candidate has 4 or 5 cases against him. I say, let it be six. All I want is that the person should win. Let me be very clear about this," Nath was heard as saying in the clip.

The Congress on Saturday released its first list of 177 candidates in Madhya Pradesh. Check constituency-wise details here.

The announcement by Congress came a day after the BJP named 155 candidates out of 230. The first list saw 34 sitting MLAs, including 3 Ministers being denied a ticket from their incumbent seats.

Polling for the legislative assembly will be held in a single-phase on November 28. The results would be declared by the Election Commission on December 11.

Pre-poll surveys so far have given Congress the edge moving into the elections. The party is predicted to bag 120-130 seats, significantly above the 115-majority mark. The Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP, facing 15 years of anti-incumbency, is expected to be reduced to 100-110 seats, as per the opinion polls.
