Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath Brings Department of Spirituality to Replace Shivraj Singh Chouhan's Happiness Ministry

With the new move, Religious Trust and Endowments and Happiness Department together will be merged to form spiritual department.

Bhopal, December 4: Weeks after taking charge of Chief Minister, Kamal Nath government has decided to form a new department – Spiritual Department – by merging Religious Trust and Endowments and Happiness Department (Anand Vibhag), as per promises made in their Congress’ election manifesto. The departments being replaced with the new one were formed by previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government.

According to the new move, the Directorate of Religious Trusts and Endowments, Pilgrimage and Fair Authority, Directorate of Mukhya Mantri Teerth-Darshan Yojana and Rajya Anand Sansthan will also be included in the new department.  Vande Mataram, National Anthem to be Sung With Police Band at Vallabh Bhavan: Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath.

Confirming the reports, CMO had tweeted on December 29, 2018, “The proposed Adhyatmik Vibhag (Spiritual Department) going to be formed by merging Dharmik Nyas Evam Dharmasv Department (Religious Trust and Endowment Department), Anand Vibhag (Happiness Department) in addition to the Directorate of Religious Trust and Endowment, Madhya Pradesh Teerth Evam Mela Pradhikaran and Rajya Anand Sansthan.”

Objectives of the Spiritual Department:

The newly-formed Congress government in the state claim that the aim of the new ‘Spiritual Department’ is to strengthen inter-communal harmony and Sarvadharma Sambhav in the state covering all religions, sects and faiths. Based on a similar pattern of several countries like – United States of America, England, Argentina, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brunei, Myanmar, Tunisia, Indonesia, Denmark, etc. – the state government has proposed to this department.

The state government further states that spirituality is against religion, but it emphasises the experience of a divine and universal consciousness. Even in developed countries, there is a Department of Spiritual Care in different hospitals.
