Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath Announces Setting Up of 1,000 Gaushalas In 4 Months To Accommodate 1 Lakh Stray Cows
Under the ‘Project Gaushala’, nearly one lakh stray cows and progeny will be accommodated in Madhya Pradesh in four months.
Bhopal, January 30: The Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Kamal Nath, on Tuesday announced to set up 1,000 gaushalas in four months to accommodate nearly one lakh stray cows and progeny. With this, the CM had said that Congress had fulfilled one more poll promise in the state.
The newly appointed Chief Minister was of the opinion that with the new project the issues of stray cows’ protection in the state would be solved. For implementing the ‘Project Gaushala’, the state government has made the Rural Development Department the nodal agency. Along with the state government department, gram panchayats, self-help groups, organisations affiliated to the state cow protection board and organisations chosen by district committees have been selected to ensure the implementation of the project.
Stating more, the Nath said the project is being implemented as not one government-run gaushala in the state is in place. Also, he claimed that with the implementation of the project Congress government had fulfilled another promise which it made in their elections manifesto.
However, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party attacked the Congress and alleged the state government is paying only lip service to cow protection. State BJP chief Rakesh Singh said that 50 cows died due to cold and hunger in the country’s only cow sanctuary in Salaria.
