Madhya Pradesh Budget 2019: Rs 132 Crores Allotted for Cattle Farming and Livestock, Rs 20 per Day for Cow Protection

Bhopal, July 11: The Madhya Pradesh Government in its state budget on Wednesday made a provision of Rs 132 crores for the promotion of cattle farming and livestock across the state. Reaffirming the government's commitment for conservation of cows, the Kamal Nath-led government in the state decided to pay Rs 20 per day instead of Rs 4 for cow protection. The newly formed Congress government in the state, which is just seven-month old avoided imposing any fresh taxes. The budget also allocated Rs 132 crore for 1,000 cow shelters. The state government in Madhya Pradesh presented its maiden budget with an aim to woo various sections of society. The minister said a budgetary allocation of Rs. 8,000 crore has been made to waive remaining loans of the farmers in the state. Finance Minister Tarun Bhanot presented a Budget of over Rs 2.33 lakh crore in the state assembly on Wednesday. According to reports, Bhanot presented a budget of Rs 2,33,605 crore with an expected fiscal deficit of 3.34 per cent and revenue surplus of Rs 732 crore.

Bhanot said the ruling Congress had written off loans worth Rs. 7,000 crore of 20 lakh farmers within 128 days of coming to power. The budget also hiked grant to the state Waqf Board and Haj committee and also proposes a three-fold hike in the honorarium for the priests working in the registered temples. Bhanot said that more than Rs. 821 crore has been earmarked for the OBC and Minorities Department.
