Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018: Kamal Nath's Video on Muslim Appeasement Goes Viral
Days before the MP Assembly Elections, a video of PCC chief Kamal Nath's asking supporters for Muslim Appeasement goes viral
Bhopal, November 21: With just days remaining for the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, political parties in the state are on a spree to accuse key changers. In a latest, state Pradesh Congress Committee chief Kamal Nath's video is making the rounds where he is allegedly seen telling his supporters to ensure that Muslim vote goes up. Though there is no conformity on whether there the video is true or not, BJP has started accusing the Congress party of appeasement politics.
According to the video being circulated in the media, the nine-time Lok Sabha MP of the Congress from Chhindwara is purportedly seen telling his supporters to get at least 90 percent Mulsim votes. The state Congress chief allegedly opines that if it doesn't happen then it would be a great loss to the party. Taking the issue up, the state BJP unit has decided to complain about this to the Election Commission. Kamal Nath Skips No-confidence Motion Proceedings in Lok Sabha.
In the viral Video, Nath is allegedly seen saying, while speaking with his supporters, "They have said a really good thing about voting. How much is the percentage of voting? I request you. You should see the old records. It is on the Internet even today. If you want you can take it out. In the Muslim booths, what is the percentage of voting that has taken place? If 50-60 percentage of voting has taken place, why was it just 60 per cent? Why wasn't it 90 per cent?"
Adding on, he said, "It is important to do a postmortem of the previous elections. If you want we will get it done to 80-90 per cent. If we don't get 90 per cent vote share of the Muslim community today, then it will be a big loss for us. You are saying 80 per cent. I am talking about 90 per cent. We have the numbers in front of us. We have the numbers from different districts. You know which is a Muslim booth. In that booth, what was the percentage of voting that took place? If 60 per cent voting has taken place there, there would be a reason behind it."
Though no official comment has come for the Congress regarding this video so far, it is most likely that the party might consider challenging the video. The Elections for 230 seats will take place on November 28 and this video popping up at this crucial time, might decrease the chances of the opposition.
