Bhopal, November 10: As the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh are drawing closer, the political atmosphere in the central state of the country has started to heat up. State CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday took a dig at the main opposition party of the state. While addressing an election rally in Anuppur, Chouhan said, “Congress today released its election manifesto, they only release manifestos but never fulfil them.” Full Schedule of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018.
The chief minister even slammed the Congress stalwarts and former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi for not been able to remove poverty in the country. He stated, “Even Indira ji and Rajiv ji had promised to remove poverty but didn't do it. Their promise was fulfilled by Shivraj Singh Chouhan and PM Modi that is why Congress is angry.”
Earlier in the day, the Congress today released its manifesto for the state assembly elections. Senior party leader Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia were present at the launch of the manifesto and spoke at length about Congress party's plans for the state of Madhya Pradesh. The Congress promised that light bills of farmers would be reduced to half among a number of promises for the youth and sections in society. Promises on development, job creation and women security were the main highlights of the Congress party manifesto.
However, according to the opinion poll conducted by ABP News-Lokniti CSDS, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is predicted to win the upcoming assembly elections. The Congress, meanwhile, is projected to serve in the Opposition for a fourth term in a row. The pre-election survey predicts the BJP to defy the 15 years of anti-incumbency, and retain the state again with a paper-thin majority. The Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led outfit will win 116 seats -- one above the majority mark, the opinion poll claimed. The state will go to polls in a single phase on November 28, with the results scheduled to be declared by the Election Commission on December 11.
