Bhopal, October 18: Barely six weeks ahead of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections 2018, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has suggested the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to drop 78 sitting MLAs in the upcoming polls. The RSS also wants chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to contest election from Govindpura seat instead of Budhni.

At a recent meeting of BJP state election management committee, the party high command agreed that only those who have the potential to win election will be fileded, and no other factor will be considered in selecting candidates. The BJP to brass also decided that no candidate can be dubbed as ‘tainted’ before he or she is found guilty by the court. Shiv Sena List of Candidates For Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018 Released.

“The party will give tickets on winnability criteria alone. There are no tainted candidates unless there is a court verdict against any potential candidate," BJP state president Rakesh Singh has said after the meeting, as reported by Times of India. While the RSS wants Chouhan to contest from Govindpura Assembly constituency, the BJP is confident of his victory from Budhni.

According to reports, the BJP has finalised the names for two dozen constituencies. The elections for 230 seats of Madhya Pradesh Assembly will be held on November 28. Counting of votes will take place on December 11, and results will be announced the same day.

In Madhya Pradesh, the prime contest is between the ruling BJP and the Congress. While Chouhan-led government is trying to win for consecutive 4th term, the Congress, led by Kamal Nath, is fighting for winning the state after 2003.
