Chennai, July 26: According to media reports, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President M. Karunanidhi (94), who is reportedly suffering from urinary tract infection, is undergoing treatment at home. Reports also said that the Kauvery Hospital is closely monitoring his health. Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam and other ministers have visited the DMK leader at his residence.

The Kauvery Hospital's Executive Director, Aravindan Selvaraj, in a statement issued in Chennai, said that there has been a downward slide in the health of leader, mainly due to age-related ailments.

Deputy CM O. Panneerselvam along with other ministers met DMK's MK Stalin to inquire about DMK chief M. Karunanidhi's at latter's residence in Chennai. DMK chief is being treated for fever due to urinary tract infection& is being given hospital level treatment at home. Check the ANI tweet below:

In a statement issued in Chennai, Kauvery Hospital's Executive Director Aravindan Selvaraj said that there has been a slight decline in Karunanidhi's health due to age-related ailments.

Mr Selvaraj was quoted as saying that Karunanidhi is currently being treated for fever which has been caused by urinary tract infection. He informed that the leader is being treated with antibiotics and fluids. The report also mentions that the leader's health is being continuously monitored and that he is being treated and checked round the clock by medical professionals. Mr Selvaraj also said that hospital level care is being provided to the DMK leader at Karunanidhi's home.

Restrictions have been put in place for visitors visiting Karunanidhi, due to his health condition.

Karunanidhi, in recent past, was admitted to Kauvery Hospital for change of the tracheostomy tube, according to reports. The DMK leader holds the distinction of being the third Chief Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu.
