Pune, March 2: The Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on Friday put all speculations to rest by announcing that his party is ready to give up the Ahmednagar Lok Sabha constituency for the Congress. The announcement comes as a relief for the Congress party which was bargaining for this seat for the upcoming polls.

However, party sources claim that leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly – Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil – is pushing hard to field his son as a Congress candidate from Ahmednagar. Due to this, there has been a tension in the party fold and alliance Congress mulling for the seat. Lok Sabha Elections 2019: AAP Declares Candidates for 6 Out of 7 Seats in Delhi, Says No Alliance With Congress; Here’s Full List.

Making the announcement to the media during the visit to Akluj on Friday, Pawar said, as reported by the Hindustan Times, that though NCP has made the decision, but have not yet decided for which other seat it would bargain against Ahmednagar constituency.

Party leader opines that Patil had requested Pawar to allow the former’s son Sujay to contest from Ahmednagar and have threatened to field Sujay as an independent candidate if the Congress and NCP seat-sharing do not work in Sujay’s favour.
