Lucknow, March 19: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Tuesday released the list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Chaudhary Ajit Singh will contest from Muzaffarnagar, his son Jayant Chaudhary from Baghpat and Narendra Singh from Mathura. The RLD is in alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh. As per the seat-sharing pact, Mayawati-led BSP will contest 38 seats, whereas Akhilesh Yadav-led SP will fight on 37. RLD's list of candidates for Lok Sabha seats:

The RLD contested on seven Lok Sabha seats in 2014 general elections, but the party failed to open an account.  The then Union minister and RLD president Ajit Singh was defeated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Satyapal Singh, who had resigned as Mumbai Police commissioner just before the election. Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha Elections 2019: EC Bars Political Parties From Releasing Manifestos During 48-Hour Prohibitory Period.

However, in the Kairana by-poll, RLD candidate Tabassum Hasan succeeded in defeating the BJP in the high-profile battle necessitated following the death of BJP MP Hukum Singh.  Meanwhile, In 2017 UP assembly polls, the RLD had contested 277 of the total 403 seats but won only one Chhaprauli seat.

UP is going for polls in seven phases. The voting will take place from April 11 to May 19, and the result will be declared on May 23. There are a total of 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. In 2014, the BJP won 71 seats. The SP bagged only five seats, while the Congress managed to win two seats.
