Lucknow, May 1: The chasm between Congress President Rahul Gandhi and  Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party's Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati seems to be growing with every passing day as the leaders make acrimonious comments on each other. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who so far refrained from commenting on the UP leaders, broke his silence on Wednesday and hit hard at both Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati. Akhilesh Yadav Calls BJP 'Bhagti Janata Party', Says 'Congress Betrayed Samajwadi Party'.

Gandhi said at a rally in Barabanki that Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati were being controlled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Congress leader made the serious charges on both the leaders while addressing a rally in Barabanki, UP.

Rahul Gandhi's comments comes days after SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had said that the biggest betrayal that Samajwadi Party received was by the Congress. "If there is somebody who has betrayed the Samajwadi Party then it is the Congress," said Yadav at an election rally in Kanpur on Wednesday. Akhilesh's SP had formed an alliance with Congress for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative election in 2017. Mayawati Rejects Congress Seat Offer, Says 'Don't Need Your 7 Seats, You're Free To Fight on All 80 Lok Sabha Constituencies in Uttar Pradesh'.

Mayawati has also been fuming over the Congress party's decision to induct Lokendra Singh Rajput, the candidate of the Samajwadi Party-BSP alliance in Guna, into the Congress party. Mayawati was so furious that she warned of taking back support from the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh.

Before the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, in a clear message to the Congress party, BSP supremo Mayawati had said that the BSP-SP alliance can alone defeat the BJP in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Mayawati had taken to the micro-blogging website to hit out at the Congress party for its “double-standards”. "The propaganda of the Congress leaders in Uttar Pradesh that BJP may win, but the BSP-SP coalition should not win at any cost, reflects the casteist, narrow and double standard of the party. People must be aware of such conspiracies,” she stated in a tweet.
