Lok Sabha Elections 2019: PM Modi Jabs Digvijaya Singh For Failing to Vote, Says He Has 'Committed Sin'

Bhopal, May 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday trained guns at Congress veteran and former chief minister Digvijaya Singh, while addressing a BJP rally in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam. Modi jabbed Diggi Raja, as he is referred to in political circles, saying that he has "committed a sin" by not voting despite being in public life.
Modi said politicians who are holding the top constitutional offices, including the President, the Vice President, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister registered their mandate despite a hectic schedule. "The country is electing its representatives, even I went to Ahmedabad to cast my vote. President and Vice President of the country were standing in queues to cast their votes. But Diggi Raja didn't feel the need to cast his vote," Modi said.
"This is nothing but a sin and he (Digvijaya Singh) is setting out a wrong example for the first-time voters," the PM added.
On Sunday, voting was held in both Bhopal - from Digvijaya is contesting -- and Rajgarh, where he is registered as a voter. The former MP CM decided to oversee the electoral process in Bhopal, and failed to travel back to his constituency to register his vote.
In Bhopal, Digvijaya is pitted against BJP candidate and 2008 Malegaon blasts accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur. PM Modi had described her as the apt challenged to Digvijaya, saying that the latter was the one who fueled the "saffron terrorism" conspiracy.
