New Delhi, May 1: The fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections will take place on May 6. A total of 668 candidates are contesting the fifth round of the parliamentary polls, out which 126 candidates have criminal cases against them, reported IANS. If we calculate the percentage of candidates with criminal cases in this phase of the elections, it would come out to be 19 percent. Meanwhile, 14 percent of candidates, i.e. 95 candidates have serious criminal cases registered against them. Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Phase V: List of States And Constituencies Voting On May 6.
According to IANS, in Uttar Pradesh, 178 candidates are in the fray, out of which 24 percent have criminal cases against them, and 23 percent with serious criminal cases. In Rajasthan, 10 candidates out of 134 have criminal cases against them, i.e. five percent of the total candidates in the state. Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh, 10 candidates out of 109 have criminal cases, while six candidates have serious criminal charges against them. In West Bengal, a total of 83 candidates are contesting the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections out of which 28 percent are named in criminal cases, while 22 percent have serious criminal charges against them. Whereas, in Bihar and Jharkhand, 81 and 61 candidates are contesting the fifth phase of the parliamentary polls respectively. Out of these 26 percent and 21 percent candidates respectively have criminal cases registered against them. In Bihar, 17 percent are named in serious crime, while in Jharkhand, 15 percent have serious criminal charges against them.

Similarly, in Jammu and Kashmir, a total of 22 candidates are in the fray out of which six candidates have criminal cases registered against them, while two candidates have serious criminal charges against them.

In the fifth phase of General Elections, voting will be held for 51 seats in seven states. The voting will take place on EVMs as well as VVPAT machines on all polling booths this election. The results will be declared on May 23.
