New Delhi, April 27: Campaigning for phase 4 of the Lok sabha elections 2019 has come to a halt on 5pm today, as the Model Code of Conduct bars any form of electioneering during the 48 hour period preceding the end of voting period. For smooth conduct of the polls, a total of 1,40,849 polling booths have been earmarked by the Election Commission. The maximum seats are to be contested in Maharashtra, where 17 parliamentary segments - including the 7 high-profile constituencies of Mumbai - would be in fray.

In Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, 13 seats each will be contested in the fourth round. In West Bengal, 8 constituencies would go to polls, followed by the 6 each in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, 5 in Bihar, 3 in Jharkhand and 1 in Jammu & Kashmir.

Among key candidates in the fray are senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh and CPI's Kanhaiya Kumar, who would be squaring off in Bihar's Begusarai. The battle is three-cornered, with RJD candidate Tanveer Hussain also being considered a heavyweight.

In neighbouring UP, this phase of the elections would feature the battle in Kannauj, where the BJP has led a high-octane campaign to defeat sitting MP Dimple Yadav, the wife of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav.

In Odisha, all eyes are set on the electoral contest in Kendrapara, where BJD-turned-BJP leader Baijayant Panda is seeking a re-election.

In Bengal, Asansol is considered to be a contest of celebrities, where BJP's sitting MP Babul Supriyo is being pitted against TMC's star candidate Moon Moon Sen.

In Rajasthan, son of former BJP veteran Jaswant Singh, Manvendra Singh is in the fray on a Congress ticket from his father's former stronghold Barmer.

In J&K, the second round of voting will be held in Anantnag -- the single constituency which is going to polls in three phases. Former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti is in the fray.

Mumbai, where 7 seats are being contested, the key contest is here between Congress' Milind Deora and Shiv Sena's sitting MP Arvind Sawant in Mumbai South. In Mumbai North, actor-politician Urmila Matondkar is challenging sitting BJP MP Gopal Shetty.
