The polling for Phase 4 Lok Sabha Elections for 72 constituencies, spread across nine states, began at 7 am on Monday. The polling is currently taking place at Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal Lok Sabha Seats.
An average voter turnout of 64 per cent was recorded in the fourth phase of polling for 72 Lok Sabha seats across 9 states, the Election Commission said. While state-wise final figures are yet to come, Odisha recorded 66 percent polling by 5 pm, Maharashtra 52.7 percent, Bihar 58.92 percent, Jharkhand 64 percent and West Bengal 66 percent.
Polling has concluded for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 in 72 constituencies across 9 states. Till 5 pm, 50.6 percent voter turnout was recorded.

The state-wise voter turnout has been released by the Election Commission. At 1 pm, the maximum turnout has been recorded in West Bengal (52.37%), followed by Jharkhand (44.90%).

Union Minister Smriti Irani and actors Actors Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan & Aishwarya Rai Bachchan cast their vote at a polling booth in Juhu. Also, Sunjay Dutt casts his vote in Mumbai along with wife Manyata.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, his wife Rashmi Thackeray and son Aditya Thackeray cast their votes. Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar cast their vote in Mumbai. Along with this actor, Swara Bhaskar and Farhan Akhtar cast their votes too.
21.15 per cent voter turnout recorded on 13 parliamentary constituencies in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections, till 11 am, reported news agency ANI.

According to the EC's press release, 961 candidates are contesting for 72 LS seats. In this phase, 12,79,58,477 electorates are going to decide the fate of contesting candidates from Trinamool Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Left Front, SP-BSP alliance, Congress, Shiv Sena, BJD, National Conference and PDP. With reports of violence, EVM malfunctions and poll rigging during the first three phases, the Election Commission has made adequate security arrangements and deployed central forces to make the polls fair and peaceful. For the first time, the Election Commission has used VVPAT machines in all most of the polling booths.
The polling per cent recorded in the first phase for 91 seats was 69.43 per cent. In the second round of the polls for 95 seats, a total voter turnout of 67.84 per cent was recorded and for the third phase, where 117 seats were in fray, polling per cent was 66 per cent. Now with EC more vigilant and more paramilitary forces deployed in the states, it is expected that the polling in 72 Lok Sabha constituencies would be peaceful. The results would be declared on May 23.
