Patna, March 27: With the last date for nomination closed for First Phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 on Tuesday, there is a speculation that Rashtriya Janata Dal chief would field only one member from Lalu Prasad’s family in the General polls 2019. Also, speculations are on the rise that it would be Lalu and Rabri Devi’s eldest daughter, Misa Bharti, who might be given the ticket from Pataliputra, reports The Telegraph.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Misa had contested from the Pataliputra on RJD ticket, but lost to Ram Kripal Yadav. Now she is a Rajya Sabha member, but can contest the Lok Sabha elections. This is the first time that since RJD’s formation in 1997, neither Lalu or Rabari would contest the Lok Sabha Elections. It is to be known that former Union Railways minister and ex-chief minister of Bihar has been debarred from contesting elections after his conviction in fodder scam cases. However, Rabri had expressed her unwillingness to contest the general polls, following the debacle in 2014 from Saran seat. Party sources say that father-in-law of Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav – Chandrika Rai – might contest Saran seat.
The decision might have been considered by the party leaders as Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap has filed a petition for divorce from his wife, Chandrika’s daughter Aishwarya Rai. With Tej filing the divorce petition five months after the wedding, RJD is looking forward to assuaging the feelings of Yadav voters of the region who were a bit angry, adds an RJD leader.
Though the developments are spreading like wildfire, the leader stated that they are not in a hurry to announce the names, as voting in for the Saran and Pataliputra seats are to take place in the fifth phase (May 6), and in the seventh phase (May 19).
