New Delhi, May 10: Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday said that he has "no agenda, desire or dream" of becoming Prime Minister and he is "not a dark horse" for the PM position. On speculations about the possibility of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) picking up a new face, Gadkari said, "Narendra Modi is our leader and will be prime minister." He made this statement while speaking to NDTV. Nitin Gadkari Clears Air on Infighting, Says 'No Group in BJP Hoping to Remove PM Narendra Modi After 2019 Lok Sabha Elections'.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by BJP will win a reasonably good margin and form a government under PM Modi's leadership, Gadkari Said. "We will form an NDA government, not a BJP government. Even if we win a majority on our own, we will consider it an NDA government and take our allies along," Union Minister was quoted by NDTV.
The BJP leader also said that BJP will win more seats in West Bengal, Odisha and Kerala. He also added that "even Uttar Pradesh won't be like you think." According to many opinion polls, the BJP's tally, which was 72 of the 80 Uttar Pradesh seats in 2014, will face an impact due to an alliance of rival Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). On Thursday, the BJP leader had accused the Indian National Congress government of bringing down the level of the campaign by diverting from the issue of development. He said in total the grand old party has abused Prime Minister for 56.
"The election should have been fought on the work done by the BJP-led NDA government. But the Congress had brought down the level of the election campaign by abusing the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi)," Gadkari said.
