Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Leaders of Grand Alliance to Meet at Tejashwi Yadav's Residence in Bihar on January 7 to Discuss Seat Sharing
In an attempt to counter national Progressive Alliance in Bihar, leaders of like-minded parties in Bihar will meet Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav at his residence in Patna on January 7 to discuss seat sharing in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Patna, January 6: In an attempt to counter National Progressive Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, leaders of like-minded parties will meet Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav at his residence in Patna on January 7 to discuss seat sharing in the coming Lok Sabha elections. According to reports, Congress state president Madan Mohan Jha, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) national president Jitan Ram Manjhi, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) national president Upendra Kushwaha, Insaan Party chief Madan Sahni and Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) leader Sharad Yadav will attend the meeting.
The meeting will cement the grand alliance in the state. As per sources, the RJD is likely to get 20 seats out of 40, while remaining seats will be shared among the alliance partners including the Congress. Khushwaha joined the grand alliance in Bihar on December 20 after breaking ties with the NDA
Last Month, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced the seat sharing arrangement in Bihar for the Lok Sabha elections. BJP President Amit Shah confirmed that the party would fight on 17 seats, Janata Dal (United) on 17 seats and Lok Janshakti Party on six seats. The seat-sharing arrangement was made public in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and LJP Supremo Ram Vilas Paswan and his son Chirag Paswan.
Meanwhile, yesterday, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) announced an alliance in Uttar Pradesh for the coming Lok Sabha polls. On the possibility of the Congress joining the alliance, Akhilesh said, "The two leaders of the 'gathbandhan' have to decide whether Congress will be there or not." However, both the parties have decided not to field candidates in Amethi and Raebareli, the Lok Sabha constituencies of Congress president Rahul Gandhi and UPA chief Sonia Gandhi.
