Mathura, March 25: Actor-turned-politician and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Hema Malini on Monday filed nomination papers from the prestigious Mathura Lok Sabha seat. Hema Malini's name was announced in the first list Bharatiya Janata Party's Lok Sabha candidates for general elections. Hema Malini, who joined the Saffron party in 2004, has served as an MP (Member of Parliament) in the Rajya Sabha from 2003 to 2009. She was nominated from the Mathura seat in the 2014 National Elections, which she won, earning a berth in the Lok Sabha. BJP 1st List of Candidates For Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

Earlier, there were rumours that Haryanvi dancer Sapna Choudhary had joined the Indian National Congress and it was speculated that she would fight polls against Hema Malini. Chaudhary, however, on Sunday announced that she had not joined the grand old party and a picture of her with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra going viral is old.
