Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Congress Releases List of 12 Candidates, Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to Contest From Sasaram
The Congress replaced Tanushree Tripathi with Supriya Shrinate from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh.
New Delhi, March 29: The Congress party on Friday released a list of 12 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The list has four candidates from Bihar, seven from Odisha and one from Uttar Pradesh. The Congress fielded former Lok Sabah Speaker Meira Kumar from Sasaram and Ranjeet Ranjan, wife of Jan Adhikar Party (Loktantrik) chief Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, from Supaul.
The Congress nominated Ashok Kumar from Samastipur (Bihar), Neelam Devi from Munger (Bihar), Fakir Mohan Naik from Koenjhar (Odisha), Navajyoti Patnaik from Balasore (Odisha), Madhumita Sethi from Bhadrak (Odisha), KP Singhdeo from Dhenkanal (Odisha), Dharanidhar Nayak from Kendrapara (Odisha), Pratima Mallick from Jagatsinghpur (Odisha) and Satyaprakash Nayak from Puri (Odisha). The Congress replaced Tanushree Tripathi with Supriya Shrinate from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh. On Thursday, the party declared 31 more Lok Sabha candidates fielding Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot from Jodhpur and former MPs Manvendra Singh from Barmer, Jitendra Singh from Alwar and Jyoti Mirdha from Nagaur. With this, the party has so far declared 305 Lok Sabha candidates. The 2019 Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The results will be declared on May 23.
