Election Commission has accepted the request seeking extension till May 7 for filing reply to the notice issued by Commission to Congress President Rahul Gandhi on May 1 over his impugned statement made on 23rd Apr in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. He was earlier given 48 hrs to reply.

With national security turning a key poll plank in the ongoing elections, the Congress yesterday released a list of six surgical strikes carried out in the UPA era by the Army. "Unlike the Prime Minister, we did not politicise the armed forces. We did not resort to chest-thumping," Congress MP Rajeev Shukla said.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also trained guns at PM Modi, saying that his performance has been "unpardonable". He accused the present government of using the Army's valour to "hide its dismal performance on the economic front".
