Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Friday said that the year-on-year growth of national income has plunged from 14 per cent in 2005-06 to 11.6 per cent in 2018-19. The Congress said that the Modi government will be shown the "exit door" by the people of India on account of an atmosphere of "fear, despair, division and economic devastation" and alleged that it had "dismantled" India's economy in five years.

The Election Commission has ordered re-polling in one polling booth in West Bengal's Bankura parliamentary constituency on May 19, an official said. The constituency had voted in the sixth phase of polls on May 12. As per the notice on Friday, the EC has ordered the repoll in Chhatarkanali Prathamik Vidyalaya that falls under the Saltora assembly segment.


New Delhi, May 18: With the seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha Elections due on May 19, campaigning ended on Friday. The seventh phase will see 59 seats going to the polls on May 19. Over 10.1 crore voters will decide the fate of 918 candidates including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On May 19, polling will take place on remaining eight constituencies of Bihar, three of Jharkhand, eight of Madhya Pradesh, 13 of Uttar Pradesh, nine of West Bengal and all the four of Himachal Pradesh, 13 of Punjab and the lone seat of Chandigarh. On Thursday, the campaigning had already ended in West Bengal due to orders of Election Commission and it ended in the remaining six states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh on Friday.

In West Bengal, the Election Commission had ordered repolling in one polling booth in West Bengal's Bankura parliamentary constituency on May 19, an official said. The constituency had voted in the sixth phase of polls on May 12. According to a report by IANS,  the EC has ordered the repoll in Chhatarkanali Prathamik Vidyalaya that falls under the Saltora assembly segment. It will go for the polls from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. along with the seventh phase elections for nine seats.
