Vaibhav Gehlot, son of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, to contest from the Jodhpur parliamentary constituency.

CPIM announces its Manifesto for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. In the poll manifesto, it has promised:

a) Freedom from injustice, discrimination and inequality
b) Raise the statutory minimum wages of the workers to Rs 18000 per month
c) Link all wages with Consumer Price Index
d) Concrete measures to fight the current high levels of unemployment in the country
e) Comprehensive laws against communal violence & lynching. Put an end to vigilante groups, private armies and communalism of all flavours.
f) Electoral reforms by calling for introduction of proportional representation with partial list system, and to scrap electoral bonds which destroyed transparency.
g) To raise corporate taxes, & restoration of wealth tax and long term capital gains tax. It also proposes to introduce inheritance tax.
h) Benefits of people belonging to socially underprivileged sections of the society, like the SCs & STs, will be extended to job/education opportunities in private sector too.
i) Raise the public expenditure in education to at least 6% of GDP.
j) Support one-third reservation for women in Indian Parliament & all of Indian states. It also promises to adopt comprehensive measures to put an end to violence against women & children.
k) Making free healthcare a basic right, and to put an end to private insurance driven health care model as followed now.
l) Strengthen the Universal Public Distribution System in India.

New Delhi, March 28: In the run up to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) outgoing MP A.P. Jithender Reddy on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after he was denied ticket for next month's elections. According to reports, Reddy, who was leader of the TRS in Lok Sabha, formally joined the BJP in the presence of party President Amit Shah in New Delhi. Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Muslim Women Come Out With Manifesto for Political Parties, Demand Law Against Mob Lynching.

In West Bengal,  Arjun Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency, who recently switched to the party  from the ruling Trinamool Congress on Wednesday said that 100 legislators from his former party would join the BJP "very soon". "Around 100 legislators from the ruling Trinamool Congress are ready to join the BJP," Singh, a four-time MLA from Bhatpara, told mediapersons.
