Election Commission: In a matter related to a complaint concerning an alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct in a speech by PM Narendra Modi in Wardha, Maharashtra on 01.04.2019, Commission is of the considered view that in this matter no such violation has been noticed.

The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday barred Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan from election campaigning for 48 hours starting from 6 am tomorrow, for violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC). He was banned from campaigning after a case was registered against the SP leader for violating the MCC at a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur on April 25. Read the full story here:

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh met Lucknow Eidgah Imam Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali and Shia clerics Maulana Agha Roohi and Maulana Yasoob Abbas in Lucknow. The BJP veteran seeks re-election from the constituency, which he had won with a resounding mandate in 2014. The Lucknow seat goes to polls in this round of the elections on May 12, in the sixth phase of the polls.

New Delhi, April 30: Around 64 per cent turnout was recorded in the elections for 72 seats held on Monday in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polls. The 7 high-profile seats of Maharashtra witnessed a three-decade high turnout, whereas, the 17 constituencies across the state witnessed a cumulative turnout of 57 per cent. The most heated round of polling was witnessed in West Bengal, where 8 seats were contested yesterday. Violence was recorded in some poll-bound constituencies, including Asansol where miscreants vandalised the car of sitting BJP MP Babul Supriyo. Despite the clashes, the state recorded the highest voter turnout of 76 per cent.

An FIR was also registered against Supriyo, after the Commission found him of violating the norms by unauthorisedly entering into a polling booth while the voting was underway.

With the conclusion of fourth phase polls, only three rounds of elections are remaining. So far, 375 seats have been contested. Polling in 1 constituency has been cancelled -- leaving 167 constituencies to be contested in the remaining three phases.
