New Delhi, April 1: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Monday released a list of six candidates in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019. BSP is contesting 38 of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh under the seat-sharing arrangement with Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal. In the 2014 elections, the SP, that had won five seats is contesting on 37 and it's other alliance partner, the RLD is contesting on three seats. Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Congress Part of BSP-SP Alliance in Uttar Pradesh, Reiterates Akhilesh Yadav. 

The Mayawati-led BSP, which scored a nil in 2014, is contesting the Lok Sabha elections this time in alliance with the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). The SP-BSP-RLD alliance has left two seats of Amethi and Rae Bareli for the Congress in the state. Meanwhile, the BJP-led NDA had won 73 seats from Uttar Pradesh in 2014.

In the run up to Lok Sabha polls 2019, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati is scheduled to visit Odisha on April 2 in order to attend a public meeting at Baramunda ground in Bhubaneswar. On March 23, the BSP had announced its first list of 11 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, fielding former JD(S) leader Danish Ali from Amroha. The BSP declared Haji Fazulrahman its nominee from Saharanpur, Malook Nagar from Bijnore and Girish Chandra from Nagina, a party statement said.

In March, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced dates for Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. The seven phased Lok Sabha polls are scheduled from April 11 to May 19. The polls in the state will be held in seven phases on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12, May 19. The 1st phase polling will be held on 8 seats on 11 April, the 2nd phase of UP for 8 seats will be held ob 18 April, 3rd phase will be held for 10 seats on 23 April, the 4th phase for 13 seats will be held on 29 April. the 5th phase will be held for 14 seats on 6 May,  the 6th phase for 14 seats will be held on 12 May while the 7th phase in the state for 13 seats will be held on 19 May. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
