Savitri Bai Phule, even while in the BJP, was critical of UP CM Yogi Adityanath and time and again raised her voice against the injustice done to the Dalits and Bahujans, whenever an incident came to light. Phule joining Congress just ahead of the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha Elections will boost the party's morale which will look to consolidate the dalit votes in the state, especially after it was snubbed by the SP-BSP alliance, which decided to fight the General elections together.
