Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Arvind Kejriwal Warns People Not to Vote For Congress, Says Give All 7 Seats to AAP
With this statement, the party leader tried to clarify his stand that he would not tie-up with Congress, though the speculations were high.
New Delhi, January 7: Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday appealed to the people of the national capital not to vote to Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With this statement, the party leader tried to clarify his stand that he would not tie-up with Congress, though the speculations were high.
Addressing a gathering in Kakrola on Sunday, the Delhi CM stated that voting for Congress means, strengthening BJP. He said, as reported by PTI, “Don’t vote for the Congress at all, if you vote for the Congress it will strengthen Narendra Modi. Let not your vote split and give all seven MPs to the AAP.” Arvind Kejriwal Opines 'Congress Didn't Win Elections, But BJP Lost Three States'; Sheila Dikshit Retorts Back.
The remarks of the AAP convener comes amid the speculations that both AAP and Congress could contest elections in the Lok Sabha, while both the parties have maintained silence on this. Also, Ajay Maken – critical of his party’s alliance in Delhi with the AAP – had resigned from Delhi PCC chief post a couple of days ago.
Though former CM Sheila Dikshit had hinted a couple of weeks earlier that she is open to the idea of allying with AAP, provided Congress headquarters are okay with it, Kejriwal with his comments closed the doors for further negotiations. In the recently held national meet of AAP, the party had decided to contest all the seats in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Goa and Chandigarh, totalling 33, in the Lok Sabha elections.
